Above: Two great photographs showing a van decked out by Margate's
Supporters Club to celebrate the club's achievements during the 1962/63 season.
Margate won the Southern League Division One title, the Kent Senior Shield and
the Kent Floodlight Cup and all three trophies are in the pictures. In the top
photo the man in the white shirt with braces is Eddie Davis and next door to him
with a short-sleeved shirt and rosette is Eddie Rogers whose son Brian kindly
supplied these, and many other pictures. The man on top of the van is Eric Ward
and the person in the dark blazer on the right is unknown. The schoolboy in the
pics is Tim Davis, son of Eddie Davis. I think the photos may have been taken
somewhere on the seafront at Westbrook and I wonder if the van might been
prepared for the Margate Carnival parade although that's just a
guess.
